Honoring, Remembering, Celebrating, and Thanking MOM!

APRIL!!!

April brings the promises of Spring. Signs of life can be heard with loud birds singing in the early morning, and frogs croaking in the evening, and a hazy shade of green starts to replace the dead grays and browns of winter. I love it!

On the flipside, April can sometimes feel heavy for me since it brings the anniversaries of my father's passing on April 30, 1976, and on April 29, 2012, the passing of my mom. One day apart, 36 years later. April is a reminder of how much my heart still misses them and longs to see them again in heaven. The Resurrection assures that hope!

"MEMORIES OF HOME"

Memories of Home has its roots in my upbringing. I was the youngest of 4 children and was raised on a farm in Illinois. My mom didn't work outside of the home while she was raising her family, but that needed to change when she became widowed. I remember her filling out applications to a variety of businesses, and her success at being hired at a fabric store. She loved to sew, so this was a perfect fit for her. I remember going to visit her at the store after school so that I could ride home with her. I would watch her tidy up, close out the register, and lock up shop. Working there looked like so much fun. Perhaps there may have been a connection with seeing her in that little store that made me want to do the same thing someday.

BASED IN FAITH & FAMILY

My fondest memory of my mom was her faith. Oh, how she loved Jesus! Even when my dad was no longer by her side, she would hold on to the fact that she was never alone because Jesus was always with her. Her faith made her so strong. It enabled her to go on, doing things that were way beyond her comfort zone. But she did them and she thrived. How proud I am to have had her as my mom! How thankful I am to be her daughter!

MOTHER'S DAY

Spring goes by so quickly. Before you know it, it will be May, and we will celebrate Mother's Day. It's a day to honor Mom and the special women who lead others with grace, give unconditionally of their love, and live with purpose.

Who do you know that needs to be celebrated, thanked, and/or encouraged?  Let Memories of Home help you honor them with a gift of appreciation or a meaningful greeting card. We'd love to help you bless those that are such a blessing to you.
